Taekwondo Casual & Footwear

Taekwondo is traditionally practised barefoot in the dojang. However, lightweight Taekwondo training shoes are available and are used by some practitioners for footwork drills and competition warm-ups. They provide a thin sole that allows feel for the floor while protecting the feet. Check with your club or instructor before purchasing training shoes as requirements vary between clubs and governing bodies.

Taekwondo training shoes are designed primarily for dojang use and are not suitable as everyday outdoor footwear. Their thin soles and lightweight construction are optimised for indoor training surfaces. Wearing them outdoors will quickly damage the sole and reduce their effectiveness for training. They are best kept exclusively for dojang and competition use.
